Running Buddy
  • See our Wondergirl 5K page on how to register to be a Running Buddy!
  • Participation as a Running Buddy is contingent upon clean background check.
  • Meet girl you will be running with once prior to 5K - this means going out to the school she runs with and meeting her the week before the race at her last practice.
  • Running or walking with your participant at the 5K, cheering her on, helping her do her very best!

The Fundraising/Events Committee:

The Fundraising committee is charged with creatively brainstorming and implementing new initiatives throughout the year for Girls on the Run of WNC. The Fundraisers and/or events theme should be aligned with the Girls on the Run mission and the integrity of the program.

  • Interested in planning and organizing fundraising events
  • Attendance at monthly meetings and events (1-3 hours a month)
  • Capability to solicit donations, market Girls on the Run and personally network
  • Ability to follow-through on short-term and long term projects
  • Innovative thinker!! Marketing and Sales skills a plus
  • Knowledge of, or desire to learn, about grant writing process
  • Strong desire to gain a broad overview of non-profit world
  • Ability to think logically and to effectively "build a case" for potential donors
  • Ability & desire to research sources of funds and communicate convincingly the value of GOTR® -WNC
  • Ability & desire to understand budgeting and finance

The Race Organizing Team

The Race Committee organizes, plans and implements race day activities. This committee works hand in hand with the GOTR Staff to ensure a successful Girls on the Run season! 

  • Interested in planning and organizing events
  • Attendance at monthly meetings and events
  • Capability to solicit donations, market Girls on the Run and personally network
  • Desire to recruit, train and retain volunteers
Time Commitment
  • 1 year commitment - 2 races
  • First Meeting, 2 hours
  • Once a month for 2 hours
  • 2-3 times a week 2 to 3 weeks out from the race
  • 3 hours the Friday before the race
